Welcome to the 2010 SPE Eastern Regional Meeting

Welcome to Morgantown, West Virginia, home of the WVU Mountaineers, for the Society of Petroleum Engineer’s 2010 Eastern Regional Meeting. The Northern WV Section, your host for this year’s event, believes that you will find this meeting both informative and entertaining. We have selected the new state of the art Morgantown Event Center located at Waterfront Place as the venue.

Our technical program got off to a great start with 171 technical abstracts submitted. The Technical Program Committee selected 48 excellent papers covering topics such as stimulation, field development, stimulation case studies, production, coalbed methane and reservoir management. We have selected topics that will be of interest in the development of the unconventional Marcellus Shale.

This conference will provide a comprehensive technical program, Marcellus Shale Development short courses, a large exhibition of technical products and services, and an exciting social program. The exhibit hall at the new MEC Waterfront Place will be a very active area throughout the meeting with more than 130 exhibitors. On Tuesday night, the exhibit area will host the welcome reception. Throughout the meeting, numerous prize drawings will take place in the exhibit area. Our Wednesday keynote luncheon speaker will be Kathryn Klaber, the President of the Marcellus Shale Coalition. The Entertainment Committee has worked hard on a great schedule. The excitement starts Tuesday with a golf tournament at The Pines Country Club.
